Summary. In this episode, the Pilot, Ted helps his best friend from college, Marshall, propose to his girlfriend, Lily, while another friend, Barney, repeatedly deplores marriage. Ted begins to question his fate until he meets a television news reporter, Robin, at a bar. They go on a date and Ted becomes very interested in her.
